Performance measurement

The measurement and evaluation of performance is an ongoing activity, especially in cases when performance is related to remuneration. In these cases the leaders continuously follow the workload, the working hours and the monitoring points characteristic of performance. However, it is becoming common that they occasionally carry out separate assessment work in a pre-defined rhythm as well. In the business world and public sphere the individuals and institutions are assessed on the basis of their performance. The excellent results, success – in addition to luck – fundamentally and primarily depend on performance. Performance means the measurable results, more broadly, the successful efforts meant to achieve the goals of the organization. Accordingly, a job which does not help the achievement of the goals, cannot be considered performance, even if it has been carried out with great effort.
